Fact-check · 2026–2027 deadlines · verified 19 September 2026

The viral “Upcoming Scholarships 2026–2027” list — fact-checked

A widely-shared social media graphic lists 12 scholarships with deadlines between November 2026 and January 2027. We checked every single row against the official university and foundation pages. Only 3 of 12 were accurate. Below: the corrected list you can actually use — real deadlines, real amounts, direct official links. تحقّقنا من كل منحة من المصادر الرسمية

The short version: that viral list is engagement bait. It sends students to deadlines that don't exist, promises scholarships that were never announced, and mixes undergraduate programmes with graduate-only awards. Every date and amount below was confirmed on the official source on 19 September 2026 — and where 2027 dates are not yet announced, we say so instead of inventing them.

What the viral list got wrong — row by row

Every claim from the shared graphic, checked against the official source. Rows that were fine are marked as such — we correct, not complain.

Stanford — “Bachelor's, Master's, PhD · 01 Nov 2026”Knight-Hennessy for everyone, deadline November.
Reality: Knight-Hennessy is graduate-only — bachelor's students cannot apply. The real deadline is 6 October 2026, 1 pm PT. One month earlier than the viral list claims.
University of Michigan — “partial to full tuition waiver · 01 Nov 2026”A blanket scholarship for all levels.
Reality: no such university-wide international scholarship exists. U-M's own financial-aid office says international funding is “limited”. 1 November is just their admissions early-action date.
Friedrich Ebert — “€934–1,200/mo”Full tuition + €934–1,200 monthly.
Reality: the official amounts are €992/month (students) and €1,500/month (postgrads). The 30 November deadline window is right.
ETH Zurich — “CHF 1,920/mo + insurance”A monthly allowance figure.
Reality: ESOP pays CHF 12,000 per semester plus a tuition waiver. The viral 30 Nov deadline was correct — the amount was not.
Eric Bleumink — “Master's · 01 Dec 2026”Full tuition + travel + books.
Reality: accurate. Confirmed on the University of Groningen page — deadline 1 December 2026, grant covers tuition, travel, subsistence, books and insurance. The one row the viral list got fully right.
KAIST — “deadline 28 Dec 2026”Apply by end of December.
Reality: that deadline doesn't exist. The Spring 2027 application window closed 1 September 2026; the Fall 2027 window opens around February–March 2027.
Eötvös Loránd University — its own rowListed separately from Stipendium Hungaricum.
Reality: duplicate row. ELTE admits scholarship students through Stipendium Hungaricum — same programme, same 15 January deadline, same amounts.
Axel Adler — “Bachelor's, Master's, PhD”All levels eligible.
Reality: bachelor's + master's only — no PhD. The 100% tuition waiver and 15 January deadline are correct.
MBZUAI — “AED 8–10K/mo + housing”Old stipend figures.
Reality: current stipends are AED 15,500/month (MSc) and AED 17,500/month (PhD) — plus on-campus housing, insurance and a UAE visa. Better than the viral list says.
Stipendium Hungaricum — “HUF 43,700–180K/mo”Range including PhD.
Reality: nearly right — HUF 43,700 (BA/MA) and HUF 140,000 (PhD), not 180K. Deadline 15 January confirmed.
Lester B. Pearson — “Bachelor's, Master's, PhD · ¥150K/yr”For all levels, paid in yen?
Reality: undergraduate only (international first-year students) and the award is Canadian: tuition, books, incidental fees and full residence support for four years. The “¥150K” figure appears in no official source.
Government of Belgium — “Bachelor's, Master's, Courses · 28 Jan 2027”ARES scholarships in January.
Reality: the 2027–28 ARES call closed 18 September 2026 — it's already gone. Next call: ~September 2027. ARES funds specialisation master's and training courses for developing-country nationals, not bachelor's degrees.
How we verified this. On 19 September 2026 we opened the official admissions or scholarship page of every programme named in the viral graphic, and only published a deadline where the source states an exact date or follows a stable, published annual pattern. Amounts come from the official benefit tables — not from second-hand blogs. Where a 2027 date hasn't been announced yet (MBZUAI, KAIST Fall), we say “expected”, not “confirmed”. This is the same verification rule our full verified catalogue applies to all 69 programmes — and if a viral list ever contradicts it, trust the official page first, or start from our catalogue.
